Broadcast & recording
CastPad controls streaming and recording on the switcher itself, plus external HyperDecks and streaming encoders. The top bar’s ON (red) and REC (amber) indicators light up whenever any of these is live.
ON AIR card (switcher streaming & recording)
On ATEM models with built-in streaming/recording, add the ON AIR card.
- Stream — tap to go live, press and hold to stop (so you can’t end a broadcast by accident).
- Record — tap to start, hold to stop. The card shows the elapsed time, NO DISK when there is no recordable disk, or the remaining recording time when a disk is available.
- A gear button opens options:
- Streaming — platform, service name and server URL (auto-filled when you pick a platform), stream key, and quality.
- Recording — filename, drives, and ISO per-input recording. Turning on Record all cameras automatically includes the individual ISO inputs.
Quality profile
The quality picker applies to both streaming and recording. Pick one of six profiles, or leave it on the device default:
- HyperDeck — High / Medium / Low (high-bitrate, for recording).
- Streaming — High / Medium / Low (lower-bitrate, for live).
- Device default (no change) — leaves the switcher’s own setting untouched.
When ISO recording is on, the button reads ISO REC.
HyperDeck card
Add a HyperDeck card and connect it by IP (CastPad talks to HyperDecks over the network).
- Full transport: record, play, pause, previous/next clip, and a shuttle / jog scrub strip.
- Tap to start recording, hold to stop.
- Choose the record slot (SD / SSD), set a filename prefix, and see clip length and remaining time.
- Connect several HyperDecks — each card is labelled by model and number.
HyperDeck options
The gear button opens extra controls:
- Recording filename — set a prefix, with an Add date · time toggle to stamp each file.
- Format — wipes the whole slot (every file is deleted; requires confirmation).
- Clip list — pick which clip to play, or reload the list.
- Rec settings — codec (H.264 / ProRes), video and audio input, timecode input, and the record trigger.
Streaming Encoder card
Add a Streaming Encoder card for Blackmagic Web Presenter / streaming encoders (connected by IP).
- Start the stream by tap, hold to stop.
- Set the platform, server, quality, video mode, and stream key.
- Connect by network scan, by IP, or as a mock device for testing.
- Live status and bitrate are shown on the card.
