Supported switchers

CastPad works with the Blackmagic ATEM range, including:

  • ATEM Mini family — Mini, Mini Pro, Mini Pro ISO, Mini Extreme, Mini Extreme ISO, Mini Extreme ISO G2
  • ATEM SDI — SDI, SDI Pro ISO, SDI Extreme ISO
  • Constellation HD — 1 M/E, 2 M/E, 4 M/E
  • Constellation 4K — 1 M/E, 2 M/E, 4 M/E, 4 M/E Plus
  • Constellation 8K — Constellation 8K, in both UHD/4K and 8K modes
  • Production / Broadcast Studio 4K — Production Studio 4K, 1 M/E and 2 M/E Production Studio 4K, 2 M/E and 4 M/E Broadcast Studio 4K
  • Television Studio — HD8, HD8 ISO, 4K8, plus the legacy Television Studio HD, Pro HD and Pro 4K

CastPad reads each model’s capabilities (M/E count, keyers, AUX, audio, streaming, recording…) and shows only what that model supports.

HyperDeck & streaming encoders

In addition to the switcher, CastPad can control Blackmagic HyperDecks and Web Presenter / streaming encoders through add-on cards. See Broadcast & recording.

Connecting

Open the Select device modal in either of two ways:

  • Tap the connection status button at the top of the header (left side), or
  • Go to Settings › Select device.

From there you can connect in one of three ways:

  • Pick a discovered device. Tap Rescan to scan your network (this takes up to about 5 seconds). Any switchers found appear under Available devices — tap one to connect.
  • Enter an IP manually. If your switcher isn’t discovered, type its address in Enter IP manually (the example value is 192.168.10.240) and tap Connect. You can also just press Enter.
  • Offline / Demo. You don’t need a device at all to get ready. Under Offline / Demo, choose a model and enter its screen to pre-configure layout and button edits. Settings are saved per model and applied automatically the next time you connect that model.

Controlling from several devices

Because the switcher is the single source of truth, more than one device can control it at the same time.

  • Open CastPad (or a browser) on another device on the same network.
  • Every connected device sees the same live state and can send commands — everything stays in sync.

This is ideal for a director on a tablet and an operator on a phone, both driving the same switcher.

What you need

  • All devices on the same network (or joined to the host device’s hotspot).
  • The host’s address (CastPad can show it).
  • Your Wi-Fi access point must not isolate clients (“client isolation” / “AP isolation” off).
