SuperSource
The SuperSource page builds ATEM’s SuperSource — the compositor that places several inputs as boxes inside one picture. Open it from the SuperSource item in the navigation. If your model has two SuperSources (4 M/E class), tabs appear at the top to switch between them.
The preview canvas
The preview shows your boxes on the program frame. Manipulate them directly:
- Tap a box to select it — it becomes the box you edit below.
- Drag a box to move it.
- Drag a corner to resize.
- Drag an edge to crop that side.
Boxes snap to the centre, the canvas edges, and to each other while you drag (on by default). The selected box shows resize and crop handles that float on top, so you can still grab them even when another box covers it.
Box list
Each row is [reorder] · [lock] · [BOX N] · [source] · [show]:
- Reorder handle — drag to change the box’s layer order (which box sits in front).
- Lock — locks that box so it can’t be moved by accident. The lock-all button in the header locks or unlocks every box at once. Every box starts locked — turn the header’s Lock all off before you can drag anything (it re-locks each time you reconnect).
- BOX N — the box’s colour dot and number; the colour matches its outline on the canvas.
- Source — tap to open the input picker and choose what feeds the box.
- Show — toggles the box on or off. A box that’s off is hidden and dimmed in the list.
Editing a box
Selecting a box fills the editor below with its values:
- Position — its own header with:
- X / Y — position (centre is 0). Use − / + or type a number.
- Reset position — returns the box to the centre at the default size (X 0, Y 0, size 0.5). Handy for recovering a box that’s drifted off-screen and become impossible to grab. This is separate from Crop’s Reset, but sits in the same panel.
- Size — 0 to 1.0 (1.0 fills the frame).
- Crop — the toggle turns cropping on or off; while off, the top / bottom / left / right fields are disabled. Reset sets the crop back to zero.
Copy
“Copy box N’s position · size · crop → [2] [3] [4]” copies the selected box’s layout — position, size and crop — onto another box. Only the layout is copied; the box’s source input stays as it is.
Graphic (Art)
The Graphic panel sets SuperSource’s Art (fill) layer — the picture that sits behind or in front of the boxes.
- Background / Foreground — place the graphic behind the boxes or in front of them.
- Fill — the input used as the graphic (e.g. BLK for black, a media player, …).
- Foreground only — a Key source appears, with its key options: Pre-multiplied, Invert key, Clip and Gain.
- Border (box outlines) — available only when the graphic is the background. Turn Border on to outline all four boxes, pick the Colour, and set Outer width / Inner width from 0 to 16. Changes appear in the preview right away.
Presets
A preset stores the box layout — position, size, crop and show — so you can recall it in one tap. Optionally it can also store the source inputs and the graphic (art), via the toggles below.
Built-in presets: Full (box 4 as full background), PIP↘ · PIP↗ · PIP↙ · PIP↖ (box 4 background + one corner PIP), 1-3 (large left main + three stacked thumbnails on the right), Side-by-side, Top/bottom, Quad, Full split, Vertical 3-split, Vertical 4-split.
- The PIP and 1-3 sizes/positions match the palette Upstream Key DVE PiP presets.
- Built-in presets can’t be edited or deleted — selecting one shows “Built-in presets can’t be edited or deleted. Save under a new name.”
- In the list, your presets show an amber name, built-ins a blue-grey name.
Saving a new preset:
- Type a name and tap + New preset; the current layout is saved.
- Source / Graphic toggles (independent, both off by default):
- Source — off: layout only (a template that works with any sources); on: each box’s current source is saved too.
- Graphic — off: art excluded; on: the graphic (art) is saved too = background/foreground, Fill, Key, clip, gain, pre-multiplied, invert key (all of it).
- A newly saved preset appears at the front of the list (newest first).
Recall & manage:
- Tap a preset in the list to recall it; it also loads into the panel above (small thumbnail + buttons).
- Edit — overwrites that preset with the current layout. On success, “Updated.” briefly appears under the thumbnail. The panel’s Source / Graphic toggles turn on automatically if the loaded preset contains those values; editing with a toggle on includes that item at its current value, with it off clears that item (layout only).
- Recall — applies it again.
- Delete — removes it (with a confirm popup). Built-ins can’t be edited or deleted.
Recent presets (quick-recall bar at the bottom):
- Always 6 slots, icon only (empty slots are grey). Used presets fill in automatically (newest first); pinned and recent share the 6 slots.
- Tap = recall that preset (list order unchanged).
- Long-press = popup to pin/unpin, remove (from the list only — the preset itself is kept), or cancel.
- Pinned presets stay at the front with a lock icon (up to 6).
Transition
- Animation — preset changes glide into place (off = instant cut).
- Easing — an ease-in-out curve: slow start → fastest in the middle → gentle stop (off = constant speed).
- Speed — a continuous slider from 1 (slow) to 5 (fast) in steps of 0.1, with 3 as the default. The anchor durations are 900 / 700 / 500 / 350 / 220 ms; values in between are interpolated, and the slider snaps to exactly 3 near the centre (within 0.2).
Multiple SuperSources
Models with two SuperSources switch between them with the tabs at the top; each one keeps its own boxes, graphic and presets.
