The Palettes page

The Palettes page holds CastPad’s deep switcher controls — the same surface ATEM Software Control buries in its palettes, reorganized for touch. Transitions, upstream and downstream keyers, and color generators all live here, one tap from the navigation. This page is the map; the detail pages that follow cover each section.

Pages in CastPad

You move between CastPad’s main pages from the navigation. Each one focuses on one job:

PageWhat’s on it
SwitcherThe card Pad — Program / Preview source buttons, the Transition card, the T-bar, and the compact Audio card. This is also where Editing lives (rearranging your cards).
MediaThe media pool — load stills and clips into your media players.
SuperSourceThe box compositor — place several inputs inside one picture.
PalettesThe deep switcher controls — transitions, keyers, DSKs, color generators (this page).
AudioThe full mixer — faders, ON, AFV, live meters.

Layout

The Palettes page is two columns:

  • LeftUpstream Keys.
  • RightTransition, then Downstream Keys (only if your device has DSKs), then Color Generators.

Each of the four areas — Transition, Upstream Keys, Downstream Keys, Color Generators — is a collapsible accordion section. Tap anywhere on a section header (the caret plus its title) to open or close it. Sections start collapsed, and CastPad remembers which ones you left open between visits.

A top-bar button toggles all four at once: it reads Expand all when everything is closed and Collapse all when any section is open — one tap either way.

When your switcher has two or more mix effects, M/E tabs (“M/E 1”…”M/E N”) appear in the Upstream Keys and Transition headers; selecting one switches both sections to that M/E together.

A section with nothing to show reads Not available.

Controls you’ll see everywhere

The Palettes page shares a small set of input widgets, tuned for fingers instead of a mouse:

ControlWhat it does
Slider + number + − / +Every value row combines a slider, a numeric entry box you can type into, and − / + steppers. Disabled rows grey out (for example, a symmetry field a pattern doesn’t support).
Hold-to-repeat steppersTap or + for ±1; hold about 0.4 s and it auto-repeats, speeding up the longer you hold.
Durations as seconds:framesRates are shown and typed as seconds:frames (e.g. 1:00) using your device’s frame rate — no counting raw frames. A plain frame number works too.
Visual source pickerSource buttons open the shared visual picker popup — you see the inputs, not a plain dropdown.
Color pickerColor swatches open the shared color picker with a live HSL preview while you drag.

These are the same controls across the whole page, so once you know them, every section feels familiar.

Color Generators

The Color Generators section, at the bottom of the right column, gives one row per generator (COL 1, COL 2…):

  • A color swatch opens the color picker; the picture updates live (throttled) while you drag. Hover a swatch to read its current H / S / L values.
  • H / S / L direct-entry — Hue 0–359.9°, Sat 0–100, Luma 0–100.

If your switcher has no color generators, the section reads Not available.

Some sections — most notably the DVE fly-key in the keyers — also carry preset and snapshot rows. Tap an empty snapshot slot to save the current look, and long-press a filled one to delete it. An Animate toggle sits alongside, with an acceleration switch and a speed slider (1–5), so a recall can ease into place instead of jumping. See Keyers for the full story.
