Troubleshooting

CastPad can’t find or connect to the ATEM

• Make sure the switcher and the device are on the same network.
• Try entering the switcher’s IP address manually: open the device select modal (Settings › Devices), type the IP (e.g. 192.168.10.240), and connect.
• Confirm the ATEM is powered on and reachable (other ATEM software can see it).

Note

No switcher on hand? Pick a model in the device select modal to enter offline / demo mode — you can still arrange cards and edit buttons, and the setup is saved per model for when you connect that switcher later.

The status is red / keeps reconnecting

• Check the network cable / Wi-Fi between the device and the switcher.
• Avoid having too many controllers hammering the switcher at once on a weak network.

A second device can’t connect

• Both devices must be on the same network (or the second joined to the host’s hotspot).
• Turn off “client isolation” / “AP isolation” on the router — this is the most common cause.
• Use the host’s address exactly (IP and port).

The HyperDeck / encoder card won’t connect

• Connect by the device’s IP address, and make sure it’s reachable from CastPad’s network.
• If the device is behind another router, you may need a port forward to reach it.

The top bar doesn’t show ON / REC

• The switcher’s own streaming/recording shows automatically.
• HyperDeck and encoder status only show when their card is added and connected.

Streaming / recording won’t stop

• Stopping is guarded against accidental taps: you have to press and hold the button to stop.
• A short tap only starts — to stop, hold the button until it stops (the “hold to stop” hint).

A keyer won’t go on air

Two different actions are easy to mix up:

• KEY n / BKGD only arm the keyer for the next transition — nothing happens until you take it.
• ON / AIR cuts the keyer on or off right now, on its own.

If a key seems “stuck off,” tap its ON / AIR button (it lights when the key is live). See Keyers.

A transition rate seems ignored

• Rates are entered as seconds:frames (e.g. 1:00 = one second), not raw frames. A value like 25 is read as frames.
• CUT is always instant — the rate only applies to AUTO and the T-bar.
• If AUTO is already running, your change applies to the next transition. See Transitions.

A SuperSource or DVE box won’t move

• The box may be locked — check the lock on its row (or lock-all in the header) and unlock it.
• On SuperSource, make sure the box is selected (tap it) and shown before dragging.
• For a DVE fly key, confirm you’re on the right KEY tab and the DVE key type. See SuperSource and Keyers.

An audio fader does nothing

• The strip may be locked — tap to lock, long-press to unlock.
• A channel that’s out of the mix (both ON and AFV off) is desaturated; turn ON on to bring it back.
• Pulled fully down is mute (−∞) — drag up past the bottom. See Audio.

My source label changes disappear

• After editing a label, press Save to push it to the switcher — typing alone doesn’t apply it.
• Labels written this way revert to the device’s defaults on reboot.
• To keep them permanently, use Save to device in Settings › Devices, which stores the current setup as the boot default. See Settings.

A card is missing

• Open + Card › Card organize and check the default cards show / hide toggles — the card may simply be hidden.
• A card you added yourself may have been deleted there.
• Reset layout brings back the default arrangement. See Editing your Pad.

Still stuck?

Re-check the basics: same network, correct IP, switcher powered on, client isolation off. Most issues come down to one of these.
